I am a semi-retired design engineer with 30+ years of experience in designing and manufacturing road tankers.

I was diagnosed with Cancer in 2009, followed by surgery and follow up chemotherapy during the first quarter of 2010, returning back to work in June 2010.

The rest of 2010 was a gradual return to full strength and full time work.

2011 saw me secretly arranging my wedding to my long suffering fiancé of 12 years. Which I didn’t tell her about until just one month before the date and then didn’t tell her any of the details other than the date.

I had arranged the wedding at a castle near Gretna Green surprise 1, with a vintage Rolls Royce organised to collect Trish from the hotel and take her to the castle surprise 2 .

A Scottish Piper was on hand to pipe her in to the tower of the castle surprise 3  where Trish knew one of her older sisters, my sister and her husband were going to be there as witnesses, but the final surprise of the day was our three lads being there with us as well to celebrate the day surprise 4, needless to say tears were abound, and I even think Trish shed some too 🙂 

Four days before the wedding I suffered a minor stroke which hospitalised me for two days and left me having to discharge myself, and which during the scans revealed a benign brain tumour.

2014 saw a second stroke and November 2016 saw redundancy from a career I had been in all my working life. Enough was enough I decided it was time to try something less stressful that I love doing.
